The Rev. Michael G. Rich
Father Michael comes to St. Luke's as a third-career priest. He has been a newspaper journalist at several newspapers including The Huntsville Times in Alabama and The Daily Journal in Caracas, Venezuela. After receiving a doctorate from The University of Iowa, he taught journalism at Auburn University. At Auburn, he became involved in campus ministry and was hooked. He is the second graduate of the General Theological Seminary to serve as rector of St. Luke's. The first was the founding rector, the Rev. D.D. Flower, who came as a missionary in 1846.
Father Michael is pleased to be a chaplain, along with Deacon Stan Easton, to Jacksonville State University. He also has a great interest in Hispanic Ministry and is a regular supply priest for La Iglesia de la Gracia in Birmingham
Father Michael is especially interested in feeding ministries and is known to preach too often about his garden.
